Hello, my name is Shenandoah and I have experienced and inherited traumas. What does that mean? Not sure about you, but when I hear 'trauma' I imagine someone going through a very painful physical experience. When we talk about inner child work, there is always the associated 'trauma' that occurred. However, could trauma mean that we went through an experience, whether we were cognizant of it or not, and develop a pattern as a coping mechanism that no longer serves our best interests? I believe so. I believe that often the patterns that we create are not done so consciously. I also know that the traumas, whether they are physically painful, or we are aware of them, are not always put on us through an ill intent or desire to do us any harm.
Maybe as a child you felt loved, and you knew that your parents were there for you. However, maybe you were overshadowed by a sibling who was always receiving praise, receiving no acknowledgement of a job well done yourself. This was the starting point, that caused you to have self-esteem issues and not feel you were worthy of praise. Maybe this caused you to seek praise out in other, possibly unhealthy, ways. Your parents were not aware of your need for recognition of accomplishment. They just assumed that because you didn't cause any problems, you didn't need anything more from them and your other sibling did. This is not a conscious trauma infliction, but a trauma, none-the-less.
One of my biggest traumas resulted in me being there for others, whether physically or energetically, and not having anyone there for me. I have lived most of my life sacrificing what I need or what was best for me in order to ensure others have what they needed. This even affected the food I would eat. I never ate chicken or eggs, because I had an association in my head with one of my parents being a chicken for not protecting my siblings and I. I couldn't eat my own parent. I didn't learn, until I was an adult, that I carried the weight of some of the traumas that others around me had physically endured. I was constantly pouring for others from an empty cup. This manifested as lesions that were discovered in my neck. I was threatened with a diagnosis of MS but was able to initiate the healing of these lesions through inner child work. The biggest part of this is that I discovered myself again and began to truly love and believe in myself. While I still have a lifetime of healing to do, I have come so far on my journey, and I am so proud of myself for where I am today.
So, what does this have to do with Alchemy on the Sea and Reiki? I am glad you asked... I offer energy work in two capacities. I offer a therapeutic service where we don't do much talking, you get on my table or I connect with you through distance, where you enter a deep relaxation state. This allows the Life Force energy of Reiki to come in and help bring balance to your energy, thus positively affecting your physical body as well. This is a very beautiful and powerful therapy that can bring about many beautiful healings.
That being said, one of my favorite uses of energy work is in pattern identification and discovering your true self. These sessions begin with a conversation surrounding where you are and your experiences. We begin to discover patterns that have been created, energy work doesn't always require you to lay down and go into a deep relaxation state. Energy work can be done through a conversation or intention. After we touch base, we go into the traditional Reiki treatment. However, this time your energy is communicating with me in ways that our consciousness can't. When you allow it, we can actually shift and release energy that is no longer serving.
I always like to go back to physics class where you learn that energy is not created nor destroyed, it just is. Energy is all around us, in everything we do. This is recognized in something as simple as observing your behavior or feelings around different people. Do you have someone where no matter how you are feeling, just simply being around them makes you feel lighter and happier? This is a shift in energy, their vibrations are helping to raise yours.
It is so important to note that I am not a ‘healer’. I am a conduit and guide when I am asked to be. Healing is something that you do and allow. I am simply here to hold space for you, allowing you what you need in order to dissolve that which no longer serves. Guiding you towards self-love and most importantly, believing in yourself.
Water is a powerful element, it actually holds frequencies. This is why when you receive a massage or energy work, you will be told to drink lots of water. For Reiki it will actually help to hold the healing frequencies in your body longer. This allows for you to feel the impacts for a longer period of time. My happy place is the ocean, whether I am in it, like in this photo, or on it in my sailboat. Where do you find your deepest peace?
